The structure of the gas-liquid separator is generally a vertical or horizontal storage tank. The size is calculated according to the residence time, and it can be separated and not entrained. In the chemical process, in many states, there are two items of gas and liquid. Through condensation, some of them can be condensed into a liquid phase and need to be separated. A good gas-liquid separator should have the following characteristics: 1. High separation efficiency. a) Status of separation efficiency From the requirements of the gas-liquid separator, it is required to separate the gas from the liquid as much as possible. After the gas-liquid separator, the liquid is a liquid without gas, and the gas is a gas without liquid. Of course, the separation efficiency of a separator cannot actually be 100%. For various reasons, the actual situation is to choose a gas-liquid separator according to different separation requirements. 1. If the separation requirements are relatively low, choose gravity sedimentation separation. 2. If the separation requirements are general, choose ordinary baffle separation (baffle separation) or ordinary centrifugal separation (cyclone separation). 3. For higher requirements, choose packing separation. 4. For those with high requirements, choose wire mesh separation. 5. If the requirements are very high, choose microporous filtration for separation. Of course, this choice is not absolute, and the gas-liquid separation efficiency in actual use may not completely conform to the above sequence. The reason for this will be described later. The choice of the separation efficiency of the gas-liquid separator is related to the physical properties of the liquid to be separated. If the liquid viscosity is large and the intermolecular force is strong, it is relatively easy to separate. Therefore, the oil-water separator generally has a lower number of separation poles than the water separator. For the same separation requirements, the separation mode of the separator for the more viscous liquid can be lowered by one step in the above sequence. But a serious problem with more viscous liquids is the longer downflow time of the liquid.
